Do I have to dissolve a domestic partnership only used for medical insurance?

I was in a domestic partnership, the paperwork was notorized, and given to
his employer for medical coverage – but it was never registered. Do I still
have to get it dissolved?

If it was never registered, you do not have to dissolve it: a domestic partnership in New Jersey only becomes effective after being registered with all the proper paperwork and supporting affidavits provided. Of course, if you obtained medical coverage with an unregistered domestic partnership, you committed insurance fraud and so could face liability (e.g. be forced to repay the cost or value of the benefits obtained) if that comes to light, since you were not entitled to medical coverage for a domestic partnership if never registered.
