Do I have to report to the police station as instructed to accept a ticket for shoplifting?
Police are telling my boyfriend that if I don’t show, they will issue a warrent. An auto parts store is alleging I stole from them. We were at that store, noticed the employee follow us out, he said nothing to us. We thought nothing of it, until we got a call from police My plate. Neither of us are thrived. What should we do?

Do not go the the police station and submit to questioning, at least not without an attorney present with you. The fact is that your are under no duty to speak with the police. They are trained and experienced in getting people to make incriminating statements. While you may want to voluntarily go in, instead of having a warrant issued, do not speak to the police other than giving you name, birthdate, etc. Do not discuss the events of the incident, again at leadt not without a lawyer.
