Many parents go to child support reviews that are being handled by the Attorney General's Child Support Division without an attorney and it is possible to handle the proceedings on your own.  If it's just a review to adjust (increase or decrease) your child support obligation, you may or may not want to have an attorney to make sure that the percentage of child support requirements are correctly calculated.  If the review is to address non-payment, then you probably do want an attorney to go with you-- because non-payment of child support can result in you being jailed by the judge for civil contempt, and possibly criminal charges for failure to pay child support.  An attorney can help you present and prove defenses related to your non-payment to avoid other bad things from happening.
