Do my brother and I have the right to view the content of our late father’s safe deposit box?

Our stepmother is the executor of the Will. She has been to the safe deposit box at least 2 times with her children. Dad’s brother has told us that he had savings bonds and other things in the box for us. Do we have the right to view the contents as his heirs?

Good question. If your stepmother is the executor of your father's Will and only her, you do not have the right to view the contents of your father's safety deposit box. She will have to submit an inventory of the Estate setting forth what its assets are. From the investory she should list what was in the safety deposit box you have written about.
