Under federal and state law, a third party debt collection company cannot engage in unfair debt collection practices. Harassment of a debtor dpending upon what actually is being done at home or at work by the collection company is prohibited under such statutes.

If you believe that you have been treated unfairly by the third party collection company, you should consult with an attorney who practices in the area of consumer law further about your question.
