Under the laws of all states in this country in order to be legally married one has to obtain a marriage license, go through a ceremony performed by one licensed to marry a person (judge, minister, priest, rabbi or licensed person).
Living together for a couple of years, having a joint savings account and a vehicle together does not equal to one being deemed legally married.
