I was experiencing nasea, dizziness, stomach pains and inability to stand at times.

Unfortunately, while unfair and unwise, it is legal: the law does NOT require employers to provide sick days or allow employees to miss work for being sick (unless, that is, the employer is large enough--50 employees or more--to be covered by the Family and Medical Leave Act, the employee worked there more or less full time for a year, and the employee actually takes unpaid FMLA leave). Therefore, the employer may threaten to fire you if you leave or miss work.
