Is it legal to use a private mail box or even a storage unit as my business address?

I would like to form an LLC or C corp. Also, would it be possible to use my personal address to register the new business and just use a private mail box for my mail?

You need to register using an address which is legal to conduct business out of--such as your home assuming there are no zoning or if you are a tenant, lease restrictions on running this business out of your residence. You could use a P.O. Box as your official mailing address, and/or have goods or supplies shipped to, and products shipped out of, a storage unit, so long as the storage business allows that.
