The Executor is responsible for following the wishes of the decedent as outlined in the decedent's Last WIll and Testatment and for handling the administrative affairs of the estate. If the Executor needs to sell property to pay bills or as outlined in the Will then he or she has that power as best and in the most practical way he or she feels is necessary.  If you are the executor I would speak with an attorney about the powers given you so as to avoid a claim for breach of fiduciary duty.  Good luck.
