To add to the previous answer, it is a good idea to have the document notarized, even if no real property is involved. The law does not require it to be notarized, but some institutions (especially banks) will still insist on a notarized power of attorney.

Consult a probate attorney who can assist you to prepare this document, which should be notarized if real property is involved, and who can advise you of the options and legal effect of the power of attorney document.
