HIPAA compliancy for Massage Therapists
How important is it for a massage therapist to be HIPAA compliant if s/he does
not file with insurance companies electronically? I was recently told I need a
compliant email server but am unclear about how true that is.

You ask an intriguing question! In doing some research it seems that while it is true that as a massage therapist you may not fall under the those headings of "heathcare privider" or "covered entity" or "business associate", you could, nonetheless, be doing work on behalf of one of those that are covered. And if that is the case, then you do need to be HIPAA compliant. I am going to give you an article here to read and I hope that it helps. Good luck.
