If I hired a company to install new windows but they have not yet ordered the windows or started the work, how long do they have before I can get my money back?

They charged a downpayment of $800 over 30 days ago. It appears on my credit card statement.

I would look at the presumed contract that you signed for the installation of the windows that you have written about in that such will determine the obligations owed to you by the contractor and vice versa. If you want to stop the contract you might wish to call your credit card company and place a stop on the charge.

I suggest that you consult the owner of the company as to when the work will commence and based upon the answer you can make the decision as how you wish to proceed on the deal.
