What to do if a hospital quoted a flat rate prior to surgery, then 2 weeks after surgery it said that it quoted wrong price and wants 17 times more than was stated?

Can they do this after the fact? There were no complications or problems with surgery. The initial bill was paid I full.

I suggest that you first have a face to face meeting with the accounts receivable office with the hospital where the surgery happened to see what can be done about your bill and the misquote on the bill. If that does not resolve the problem, consult with the American medical Association about the issue.
