How can I obtain a temporary guardianship of my cousin’s daughter?
She is facing jail time. She wants me to keep her daughter while she is away without actually giving me custody. Is that possible? What am I able to do so I can enroll her in school and seek medical attention if needed?

What you may need to do is to seek help from an attorney to prepare a temporary guardianship agreement. That does not give you legal custody forever but will give you the right to make decisions as to school and medical care - which is very important - and related issues while she is incarcerated. Good luck.
