I am so sorry for your loss. If you Father had any estate and it had to be probated the proceeding would be filed in the county in which he resided at the time of his death. If there is a Will it would be in the Probate Court's file. If there is not a WIll a proceeding could still be filed and then the estate would pass through the intestacy statute in your state. The court file is a public record. Good luck.
