I am so sorry for your loss.  You would have to refinance the mortgage in to your name in order to have your name placed on it.  But if you inherited the house then the bank or mortgage company can not exercise the acceleration clause under the mortgage.  Inheritance is an exception.  What that means is that you can continue to pay the mortgage that is in his name until it is paid off with out worry that the bank will foreclose or request payment in its entirety.  Good luck.
