Probate files are public court records that anyone can read; additionally if a Will has been filed then you should also be able to obtain a copy of it. What you need to do is to check with the probate court in the county in which the deceased was domiciled as of the date of their death. Most states give an interested person the ability to locate information about a deceased person's estate online, for which there may or may not be a fee.
