If you own a service station and a customer (former) owes you money, you have no legal obligation to pursue an unpaid bill. That is your option. You can always write it off. However, if you want the money paid and it is not getting paid, a safe bet is that under your state's statute of limitations is that you file a lawsuit (possibly in small claims court) within two (2) years after the debt was due.
