Ordinarily case disposition means the outcome. The outcome could be dismissed but not necessarily so. Other possible dispositions include: Postponed, Adjourned, Guilty, Not Guilty, Dismissed, No Contest, Abandoned, Withdrawn, etc all depending on the type of forum (court or tribunal) in which a case is heard.
If a case is resolved the court enters the disposition on nthe docket of the given matter for review. Ordinarily once a case is concluded its disposition is posted immediately.
