Custom and practice is that when a person has been stopped for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, law enforcement gives two tests to the supect on the breathalyzer about ten minutes apart.
The reason for the two tests is to determine from the two reads if the blood alcohol level that may be registered is on the rise or the wane in order to determine if the person driving the motor vehicle was statutorily under the influence when stopped.
