It depends on the terms of the contract of sale. There is no inherent inspection right: that is, unless the contract contains some provision or clause giving you the right to pull out of the sale due to the results of an inspection, you would have to go through with the sale no matter what was found. (This called an "inspection contingency.") Since this right is only found in the contract itself, not in the law generally, you have to look at the terms of the contract to see how long you have. If you take longer than the contract allows, you will have to buy the house no matter the inspection revealed.
