How much should I ask for a settlement in pain and suffering?

A truck backed up into my car when I was standing. The other driver’s insurance paid the damage to my car within a week.I had 4 month treatment at a chiropractor 3 times a week. I had 2 MRI, 1ordered by the Chiropractor and 1 by a orthopaedic doctor. In my neck I have a herniated disc and in my shoulder tendonitis. Should I speak with a personal injury lawyer? I’m in Orlando, FL.

The short answer to your question is yes, you absolutely should consult with a personal injury attorney.  It sounds like you have some injuries that may result in chronic pain.  Therefore, your treatment provider should draft a final report -- once you are done treating, or have reached maximum medical improvement -- which will assign a disability rating to your injuries.  This will give the insurance adjuster idea of how severe and permanent your injuries are, and therefore will help to guage how much money you should be compensated.  An experiences personal injury attorney is in the best position to present these documents to the adjuster and negotiate a favorable settlement on your behalf.
