Under the laws of all states if you are behind on your child support payments by $2,000 there is a very good chance that the person to whom you are obligated to can file a petition for an order to show cause regarding contempt of a court order where the outcome could be fines and or jail for you. I suggest that you consult with a family law attorney to see what can be done to try and minimize the negative outcome that could result for you.
