If I am a student at a university and last night I got a ticket for minor visibly intoxicated, what am I to do?

I am an 18 year old student and while walking home from a party a cop stopped me and questioned me, he ended up giving me a breathalyzer test. He gave me a ticket for minor visibly intoxicated (MIP). This is my first offence and my time ever dealing with a legal mater like this. What is the best options for me to go about handling this and what should be my expected consequences?

I suggest that you immediately consult with a criminal defense attorney as to the best way to try and resolve the situation that you have now found yourself in. Some counties and states have a "diversion" program for first time offenders for relatively minor matters such as yours. If you qualify for "diversion" and fulfill its terms and conditions after paying a fine, then there is a chance that the court may dismiss the charge pending against you where there is no conviction.
