What to do if I asked a neighbor to fix my car several months ago and he took my money but is now ignoring me?

The car is sitting in his garage unfinished. What is my next step? I have made numerous phone calls, notes on his car, and speaking to his mother to ask him to contact me and no response. I have had a face to face meeting w/ him 3 times when he decides he is willing to talk to me. He keeps making promises to me to work on the car, but I get nothing but excuses about him being busy, etc.

Your next step is to sue him, possibly in small claims court, where you could act as your own attorney and save legal costs. You would sue him for breach of contract (not doing what he agreed to do and you paid him for) and/or fraud (lying to you about what he coudl or would do, in order to get you to pay him money).
