how long do I wait? I have not contacted my insurance. I do not have a number to get a hold of him but I have the office mine. If he waits too long do I get more? I think of it as a hit and run?

There's no point in waiting.  The longer you wait to get into this, the less people will be willing or able to remember.  If you can't get a call back within a business day or two, send a letter.  And if that doesn't work, and the damage was enough to be worth pursuing, talk to a lawyer.
