What will happen if you turn yourself in regarding an outstanding warrant?

I have a outstanding warrant for a drug charge. If I appear will I get arrested? Should I get a criminal law attorney. In Los Angeles, CA.

Yes, I would definitely seek help from an attorney in your area as soon as possible.  Warrants are usually executed passively, meaning that you are stopped say for a traffic infraction and then it comes up that you have an outstanding warrant.  In only certain circumstances do they come out to look for you in an active way, with guys showing up at your door at 6 a.m., not to say that that could not happen as well.  But you could be arrested should you turn yourself in and held until an attorney can have you arraigned.  So it may be best to have someone contact the agency that issued the warrant on your behalf and make a deal to turn yourself in voluntarily and have you arraigned immediately.  A little leverage behind you is never a bad thing.  Good luck.
