If I have been married for 8 years and house is in my wive’s name, am I entitled to any of the equity?

I believe that I should be entitled to half of the equity that the property has gained since the original purchase price, as I have done a lot of work to get the assessment value to go up more than $30,000.

This is a complicated issue as all property should be discussed and not individual items of property.  You should consult a lawyer who can interview and obtain sufficient information to discuss all property division and the many factors that have to be considered.
