If you have a medical bill not covered by insurance, you need to directly deal with the hospital or medical facility who charged the debt. Go in, discuss the matter with the head of the billing department, show proof you are on a limited income and see if you can negotiate a written payment plan so that you pay a certain amount per month. Make sure there is a provision in the written settlement agreement (if the medical facility or hospital agrees to enter into this agreement) that prevents the medical facility or hospital from suing you or sending it to collections while you pay and if you pay on time.
