Do I have to pay to replace the carpet even though they were going to replace it with tile?
I lived in a house for almost 12 yrars. For the last 4 years, I lived there the landlord kept promising to replace the entire house with tile floors. The carpet was at least 3 years old when I moved in so the carpet was about 15 years old at least. The carpet was damaged.

Normally you do not have to pay to replace flooring in a unit you are renting. Normal wear and tear is allowed for. The question is how was the carpet damaged? If the replacement became necessary because you damaged the carpet, then you may be on the hook for replacing it.
