Contact the prosecutor and explain the situation, your thinking, your wishes, etc. They *may* choose to drop the charges, or alternatively to seek some alternative punishment (such as mandatory anger management classes plus probation) instead of incarceration. However, bear in mind that while the prosecutor will often follow the victim's wishes in situations like this, it does not have to; the prosecutor, not you, are in control of the case.
