I’m looking to see if I can use Airbnb to host people. Will this violate my status? How fine a line am I walking when doing this?

You can probably do this without any issues since this is not really considered working but just getting a passive business income. However, in the event the "client" wants some type of documentation from you/receipt, it is walking a fine line.
