I paid on a credit card. They are not acknowledging the payment even though the payment was deducted from my checking account
I owed money on a credit card. I received a settlement letter stating that if they received the payment by the last day of April the account would be settled. I made the payment on the 29th of April and received a confirmation number. The payment was taken out of my account on May 1st and posted on May 4th. A rep indicated online pymnts take 5 business days to post. This is not indicated on the letter or the website. Rep STD my confirmation number cannot prove when I made the payment. They are sayin I am still in default. Why give a confirmation number if it is useless? How can I fight this ?

I am a lawyer in CT and practice in this area of the law. I suggest that you obtain a copy of your statement showing the payment deducted from your account. Then, call and ask for a manager and ask for a fax number to send it to them for review. Follow up with the person and show them the proof that the payment was made and ask how the credit card company can reconcile this since it is clear you made the payment timely. If you need additional help call a lawyer and have the lawyer get involved as maybe they will take it more seriously.
