We do not have any children and have already divided the assets.

Under the laws of all states in this country if you are now a resident of the state that you are now living in, you can file a petition in the other state seeking to transfer the dissolution action to the county and state that you presently reside in. The process has a better chance of success if the other party stipulates to the request in a written document.

There is a possibilty that the request for a transfer may be denied. You might want to consult with a family law attorney to assist you in your endeavor.
