It would be loased with non-lethal rounds (i.e. bean bag slugs). Just in case someone tries to assault or rob me or my friend? I am 19.

The answer to your question will depend specifically on your State's Law concerning permission to carry a concealed weapon. In most states, a shotgun is generally allowed within the home, but for most most concealed weapon permits, these only include pistols or handguns, not specifically shotguns. I would advise you research your state law concerning carrying a shotgun in your vehicle without a permit to carry because this is a felony in most states.
