If I want to apply for asylum, what are the consequences if I am denied?

If I, as a current student with a legal F-1 visa status, apply for asylum but am denied, could I be forced to go back to my country or will I be let alone to finish my education here in the US?

A denial of asylum will not in an of itself void the F1 visa as long as you maintain your student status during the process. But understand that an asylum application is an "immigrant intent" application while an F1 student application has a "nonimmigrant" intent so there is a conflict.  What will happen if asylum is denied is that you will be referred to an immigration judge and it may cause an issue in future nonimmigrant application.  Please speak with a lawyer. Good luck.
