I am so sorry for your situation. State laws vay on the ability to collect alimony or spousal support or maintentance as it is also called. There are also different types of alimony: temporary, permanent, rehabilitative, etc. If you are a stay at home Mom and have been since the birth of the children, the courts will take that in to consideration when deciding if spousal support is appropriate in your divorce. The general rule is the longer you are married the more it is likely that you will be awarded teh support. Good luck to you.
