If I was adopted, how do I get a birth certificate with my American name on it even though I was born in Thailand?

I was adopted by an American couple who was in the army and I had a Thailand birth certificate with a Thai name but they changed my Thai name to an American name. My Thai birth certificate and other important papers were stolen in order for me to come to the United States.

You and your parents need to go and seek help from an Immigration Attorney.  From what you have written I am assuming that you were adopted prior to April 1, 2008 (when Thailand became part of the Hague Convention which changed the requirements on adoption cases) but it sounds like you have no birth certificate at all, correct?  Your parents need to have filed certain documents to get you here and they need to be seen by an attorney in person to determine the next step for you.  Good luck.
