What to do if I’ve been charged with a crime but my PD can no longer represent me and I can’t afford an attorney?

I am 66 years old was arrested and charged with possession of child pornography; it found on 2 separate computer hard drives that I purchased from a college surplus auction years ago. Since I am retired.living on my SS benefits of $886 a month, I was given a Public Defender to handle my case, which she did quite well; she got my bail reduced from $250 to $50 so I could post a bond. Now that I am out of jail, my the PD says that he can no longer represent me; I am required to provide my own defense. I can either defend myself in court or I can hire my own lawyer, whom I have no way of paying for.

I suggest that you press the public defender's office into representing you for the simple fact that the posting of your bond amount should not preclude you from being afforded a public defender. You could also go to your legal aid clinic to see what assistance it can give you.
