What can I do about a mistake on my criminal history record?
I was convicted of a crime 6 years ago and received 2 years probation. I recently obtained my rap sheet and it says that I was sentenced to 2 years in the department of corrections last year, which is not true. I never been to jail. This is preventing me from gaining employment.

It is my understanding that Illinois has what is known as a Record Challenge Form that can be submitted for correction of a criminal record. There is a pamphlet that you can look at to help guide you and I will give you the link here. You should also speak with an attorney about expungement.
