If I was hit by a car 13 days ago, what are my options?

About 2 weeks ago, I was hit by a car while crossing the street on my skateboard. I was in the crosswalk and the walk signal was flashing, but the driver sped forward anyways and hit me. I was sent flying about 15 ft and severely injured. At the hospital they concluded that I sustained sprained left ankle, broken in 2 places on my right ankle, fractured right pelvis, fractured tail bone, and multiple scrapes and severe bruising in several places. There was a police report taken on scene but I don’t know what to do from this point?

If you are an adult (18 or over), you can sue the at-fault driver (the driver who, based on what you write, hit you because he was driving negligently, or carelessly) for your out-of-pocket (not paid by health insurance or medicaid) medical costs and, with the injuries you describe, probably some amount for "pain and suffering"; lost wages, too, if you have missed work due to this. (If you are under 18, your parent or legal guardian can sue on your behalf.) If you want to explore this option--which you probably should; the injuries you describe may entitle you to a fair amount of compenstion--consult with a personal injury attorney. Many such lawyers provide a free initial consultation to evalute a case; you can ask about his before making an appointment.
