What is the law regarding the search of a tenant’s room?

There was a search warrant for the landlord.

If the tenant rents a room within the landlord's home, then a search warrant for the landlord, for that home, would enable a search of the tenant's room. It would be different if the tenant rented a stand-alone apartment, with it's own number or street address: then the warrant would have to be for that unit. But if the tenant only rents a room, a search warrant covering that home would cover the tenant's space as well, since it is not sufficiently distinct from the landlord's.
