If I was pulled over for an expired inspection sticker and didn’t have my ID with me so the officer insisted on taking my picture inside my car after I said I no, was it legal to do it anyway?

I verbally said, “I do not consent to that”.

As part of a basic investigation, an officer can photograph you with or without your consent.  Obtaining a visual recording is not illegal.  If he asked you to give a statement against your will, then that would be illegal.  If you had been arrested or instantered, then the officer would have been able to photograph you anyhow.  The main thing is that the officer didn't violate any of your constitutional rights.
