If a company offered a raise in salary and implemented that salary for a period of 2 months can they suddenly without notice reduce it by 20%.
There is not a formal contract but there are text message agreements to the salary increase with other benefits?

Without an employment contract or union agreement to protect your rights, there really isn't much you can do since you are considered to be an "at will" employee. This means that while you are free to choose to continue to work for this employer, your employer is free to hire/fire, increase/decrease salary/hours and basically change any other term or condition of your employment as it sees fit. So unless your wage reduction was the result of some form of legal discrimination, your employer's action is perfectly permissable under the law.
