Under the laws of all states in this country a "gratuity" is an extra payment to the server and is voluntary by the person who is receiving the bill. If a "gratuity" is added to one's bill, the person receiving it is not required to pay the amount. He or she can pay more, less or none at all with respect to the gratuity under the laws of all states in this country.
