The teacher and/or school (or district) may be liable, if you can show it was do to either some act the teacher did, or because of negligent supervision of the class, or because of inadequate mainteance. Note that there are special requirements, and a shorter time frame, for suing government entitites, including public schools, state or country colleges, etc., than in other cases, so you should consult with a personal injury attorney *immediately* to evaluate if you have a case and, if appropriate, to begin it.
