No you cannot (unless you explicitly agree to be). Pre-marital debt does not attach to a non-debtor spouse. However, that having been said, if your spouse's creditor(s) sue, win, and are awarded judgement(s), then their sole assets as well as your joint assets (to the extent that they are non-exempt) will be at risk. So keep your bank accounts and the like separate.
