If you are an employee at will then you can be fired at any time and for any reason. Now, if you are veted in a pension or retirement plan then they can not take it from you and even if you were not and they fired you, you would arguably have a claim against them. Do you have an employee handbook or manual? Or an HR department? Look and see what the requirements for notice are on your part. Good luck.
