The answer to searching your phone is, maybe. The police have the right to search the vehicle - even locked glove boxes and trunks - after the car is impounded. The property inside will be "vouchered" meaning that it will be listed and stored. You will need proof that the property is yours. Go down and see what they say. You should be fine. Good luck.
