I am so sorry for your loss and for your situation.   Here is the thing: a transaction for the transfer of real property has to be in writing in order to be valid.  So if some one bought the house on a verbal agreement that it was yours but did not put the deed in your name and you have no other writing that states that or they did not leave it to you in their Will then I would not get your hopes up.  Check with an attorney in our are who can look up case law and you can give specific facts. Good luck.
